Why do Vets need a union?

As vets we face unique challenges in our roles and workplaces. We may be working outside, inside, with a team, alone and with any number of different species.

We are radiographers, phlebotomists, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeons, medical specialists, agricultural advisors, microbiologists, pathologists, zoonotic disease consultants, ultrasonographers, histologists, palliative care experts, trauma specialists, oncologists, nutritionists, behavioralists, foot trimmers, reproduction advisors, data analysts, chemists, cleaners and sometimes, counsellors. Often all in one day!

We are also humans.

 

It's easy for that to get lost in the list of all the roles we take on in a day. 

The AVU is here to ensure that the human under the scrubs/gumboots is protected, so that they and subsequently our industry, can thrive.
