Income adjuster tool

This calculator allows veterinary professionals to calculate the inflation-adjusted value of their earnings, helping to determine if real income has increased over the course of a career. It is specifically designed to compare current income against historical values.

Please note that NZ Consumer Price Index figures are released in hindsight, so figures for this year are based on an estimation. If your pay has not changed since last year and you want to use figures that are confirmed, use last year in the 'From year' box.

On 27th August 2025, The Employment Relations (Employee Remuneration Disclosure) Amendment Act 2025 passed into law, bringing legal protection for employees who:

 

• discuss or disclose their pay

• ask about another employee’s pay

• participate in a discussion with another employee about that employee’s pay

• are asked about their pay by another employee.

It is now unlawful for employers to take adverse action — such as dismissal, demotion, or disadvantage — for employees that participate the above mentioned action.

It doesn’t ban pay confidentiality clauses in employment agreements, but it does effectively make them unenforceable.

We hope that through the use of this tool, and knowledge of the law regarding pay discussions, Vets are better positioned to negotiate fair pay with their employers.
